(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Representative Sue Myrick
(NC-9) announced that she will host events on Veterans Day to
honor local veterans. She invites all veterans, and their
families, to come into her Gastonia office (197 West Main Ave.)
before the Gastonia Veterans Day Parade from 9:00am -10:00am for
food, drinks, and a 15 minute screening of the film “Lest They
Be Forgotten,” the first volume of a historic documentary
series paying tribute to veterans of WWII. She also
invites them back to her office that night from 6:30pm - 8pm to
watch the film in its entirety.
Larry Cappetto, an independent film producer, will be
in the office to help present the film. “Lest They Be
Forgotten,” focuses on the invasion of Omaha Beach, Normandy,
France on June 6, 1944. The film is told through the
voices of the people who participated in the invasion.
According to film maker, Cappetto, “Omaha Beach was the
bloodiest landing beach on D-Day. There were about 2,500
US soldiers killed in just a few hours.”
